Tanana, a first class city of 300 residents located 110 miles west of Fairbanks, where the Tanana and Yukon Rivers meet. Income sources are firefighting for BLM, summer construction,city,school, and Native Council jobs, as well as fishing and trapping. Tanana has a full-time municipal Director of Public Safety as well as several volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel.
