Chief John A Millan
Chief John Millan came to HPD in NOV of 09 after serving as Chief in Galena. He was a NC Chief, retiring
after 22 years in 07 and also retired from the Army National Guard as an MP Master SGT with 25 years service including
Iraq, Bosnia Operation, Gulf War and 3 years active US Marine Corps. John is a hostage negotiator,
EMT, police instructor, firearms and active shooter response trainer, FEMA trainer and graduate of the NC
Justice Academy's 400-hour certificate programs in school resource officer, criminal investigator and
community policing. He finished ALET recert in Sitka in 08, NC Trooper Academy in Raleigh in 85 and NC
Regional Academy in Morehead City in 84. He will expand community policing in the community and
schools. He resides in Hoonah.
Detective Bill Mills
Detective Bill Mills returned to Hoonah PD in NOV of 2010. Bill was with Hoonah PD for 16 years from 1991-2007,
serving as a patrol officer on bike patrol, field training officer, FTO and supervisor, with extensive investigative experience.
He holds an AK Firefighter-I and AK advanced officer certificate. He is an AK police standards instructor and firearms trainer.
Detective Mills is an AK DPS Academy graduate and graduate of
Hoonah High School. He served with the Craig Police Department from 2007-2010.
Officer David J "DJ" Lindstrom with his parents, Mother Alicia
and Father Allen Fisher, along with Mayor Alf Skaflestad and

Officer David J. Lindstrom "DJ" is a patrol officer and has served with HPD since early 2010. He completed the
APSC FTO Program and then the AK Trooper Academy basic ALET training in the fall session of 2010. DJ is a 2007 Hoonah High
School graduate and a volunteer coach at Hoonah School. DJ is breath test, AK ETT and RADAR certified.
He enjoys time with him family, outdoors activities and civic involvement. He resides in Hoonah.

Reserve Officer Arlen Skaflestad is a former full-time HPD Officer, a former AK State Trooper; a graduate of the Sitka Academy
and a veteran of the US Army. He is employed with the City of Hoonah Harbormaster's Office and is active in the Hoonah Volunteer
Fire Department, where he is a trainer and officer. Arlen resides in Hoonah with his family.
Reserve Officer Kyle Haskins
Reserve Officer Kyle Haskins joined Hoonah PD as a Reserve Officer in DEC of 2010. He is a civilian employee of
the Alaska State Troopers and a 2009 graduate of Dutch Harbor High School. Kyle has completed AK State Troopers technician
training with the AK DPS and HPD firearms and legal updates training.
Communications Administrator: Joan Howell is the HPD Communications Director and Administrative Assistant. Joan has been with
HPD for 11 years. She is corrections officer certified, has attended AK Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) basic
among other training. Joan resides with her family in Hoonah.
Dispatcher Carolyn Williams has been employed with HPD since Summer of 09 and is a native of Hoonah. She is an 03
graduate of Hoonah HS and is currently pursuing an associate degree in business and does volunteer work with the Hoonah
public schools. She recently completed Taser, CPR and advanced 1st Aid training. Carolyn resides in Hoonah.
Dispatcher Karen Mills has been employed with Hoonah PD since 1999 for 4 years and returned in 2007.
She is a native of Hoonah and a graduate of Hoonah HS. She is a detention officer, fire fighter and EMT certified,
a member of Hoonah VFD and Hoonah EMS. Karen has been APSIN trained and currently resides in Hoonah with her family.
Disapatcher Cherly Moore has been a 911 dispatcher upon returning to HPD in FEB of 2010. She previously served as a
911 dispatcher and most recently as a city hall employee. Cherly is a Hoonah Native.
Dispatcher Jordan Mills is a Hoonah native and 2010 graduate of Hoonah High School, where she was a well-known as an
accomplished athlete. She has been employed as a 911 dispatcher since August of 2010.
Dispatcher Josh Huskey recently came to Hoonah from Oregon. He has a background in fishing and firefighting.
