Trumann Police Department

About Us

The Trumann Police Department had its first police chief in 1939 and his name was Edgar Sullins and he remained chief until 1964. There has been several chiefs since then. Glenn Phillips 64-67, Marvin Cook 67-69, Charles Meredith 69-74, Bobby Berry 75-77, Buford Presley 77, Jim Furnish 78-87, Jerry Bland 88-2000 and Corky Richardson 2000-2004.

The department's current chief is Larry N. Blagg. The police department was originally downtown but moved to a new facility uptown in 1973 and remains there today. There used to be only one cell in the jail building, but now the facility has 5 cells and can house upto 12 or more prisoners at any given time. The building went through a face lift in and out in 2001 and brought everything upto speed, as far as adding additional offices for patrol and equiping them with computers. The police department is a 24 hour/ 7 day a week force with a full time dispatch center. In the early 90's, the department began using a k-9 (German Shepard) and retired him in the late 90's and now has a black lab by the name of Canton. Every patrol car was recently updated with new radar units and the vehicles have upto date equipment to help us in performing our duties to the best that we can.

If you would like to know anything about our department, feel free to e-mail us.
