The department added two new Dodge Durangos to our fleet in April 2003, which gives a total of 5 Durangos, for a grand total of 15 vehicles. The department has a 16th vehicle which was seized in a 1997 drug arrest and it was awarded to the department in 1999. The vehicle is a completely restored 1980 Z-28 Camaro and it is beautiful, it has a 350 4 bolt main balanced and blue printed engine, rocker roller cam, Holley 600 -4 barl. carb, new cloth interior, dark metal flake blue paint, solid aluminum wheels, and a cd/stereo that you just have to see and hear to appreciate. The system has 2-12" JL Audio Subs, 2-6x9 Memphis deck speakers for mids, 300 watt Memphis amp. and a hide-away Sony head unit. We call it "Thumper". The Camaro is equipped the same as any cruiser that we have. As you can tell I am very proud of this car, and it is special to me since I am the one who made the arrest, I was the night shift Lieutenant back then and I still am proud of the fact this car will never be involved with the transport of narcotics again.
