The Scottsdale Police Department was established in 1963 with a total of 47 full-time employees. We have since grown to employ over 500 full-time employees and over 100 volunteers. The Department is responsible for policing over 185 square miles and a population of over 200,000. The city is divided into 3 districts with a total of 20 patrol beats. Scottsdale Police Department is comprised of four Bureaus: the Uniformed Services Bureau, which includes the uniformed patrol force; The Investigative Services Bureau, which includes detectives, Narcotics Unit, and Criminal Intelligence; The Administrative Services Bureau, which includes the Crime Lab, Records and Crime Analysis; and the Professional Standards Division, which includes Internal Affairs, Personnel; Training, and Community Affairs.
