UCSB Police officers have statewide jurisdiction; are duly sworn under section 830.2 of the California Penal Code, and are trained under state guidelines and mandates. The UCSB Police Department is a full service police organization and is open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

The University of California Santa Barbara Police Department provides traditional and non-traditional police and public safety services. Our department provides for the peace, safety and security of persons and facilities on university property. Our efforts are directed toward creating an environment where research, education, and public service flourish.

Police Officers maintain 24 hour uniformed patrol coverage on foot, bicycle and in motor vehicles. They respond to crimes, injuries, illnesses, fires, and other emergencies; engage in crime prevention; receive, process, and investigate citizens' complaints; arrest offenders and make court appearances; control traffic; attend community meetings; and safeguard the custody and disposal of evidence and lost and found property.
