Welcome to our WEB site. The Silverthorne Police Department is part of an exciting place to live and work. We are a very progressive small-town police agency, located within a beautiful mountain setting containing world-class recreational opportunities. Summit County is home to the ski areas of Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mtn, and Arapahoe Basin. Vail Resort is only 20 miles west of us along I-70.

Our department consists of twenty-three personnel: eighteen officers and five civilians. We offer a variety of special assignments and career enhancers not normally found in smaller agencies; i.e. K-9, tactical team, drug task force, detective positions, DARE, and numerous community outreach programs. We are able to offer these types of specialty duties because we work cooperatively with other law enforcement agencies in the county. The department is committed to training its personnel to reach their potential, and we have a "healthy" training budget to support that commitment.

Silverthorne Police Department has struck a balance between traditional and community policing philosophies. We are an accredited police agency and have received several awards from both state and national police organizations for our innovation and excellence. We are the only law enforcement agency in Colorado to have received the International Association of Chiefs of Police Community Policing Award.

I am very proud of this department. We have an excellent work environment where the emphasis is on teamwork and cooperation. The atmosphere is conducive to creativity and fits in well with our core principles: community policing, problem solving, teamwork & cooperation, and continuous improvement. Check out the rest of our new website and see how we're doing.
