The Kankakee City Police is a "Community Policing" agency. The
Community Policing begins at the mayor and is a top down approach. Each
city agency contributes toward the common goal of improving the
community. Some of the programs the Police Department is responsible
for are:
Landlord Training - keeping illegal activity out of rental property
Nuisance Abatement Team (NAT)-Code and Police removing nuisance and
chronic nuisances from neighborhoods
Agency Agreements- community partnerships with the police to enforce
trespass laws
Citizen Police Academy and Senior Citizen Police Academy - teaching our
citizens why police do what they do.
