The Lewis Police Dept. was founded in 1882, by the city council. However, it was called the City Marshalls Office, and remained that way until 1990, when it was renamed the Lewis Police Dept. Chief of Police William Flick retired on November 18, 2003 with more than 18 years of Service. Chief Kevin Smith, was hired to take his place. In the first year of Chief Smith, being in office drug arrests were made, as well as serving search warrants for Meth Labs. The future looks good for the Lewis Police Dept.
