 The Reading Police Department's mission is to protect and serve the public through police action. In carrying out this mission, the police department provides emergency services in several broad areas; crime prevention and suppression, crime reduction, investigation of crimes and apprehension of offenders, movement and control of traffic, the maintenance of public order and public emergency services.
