  July 17, 2014

St. Cloud, MN - GeoComm is pleased to congratulate the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) on their accomplishment in receiving the 2014 Esri User Conference Special Achievement in GIS Award. This award was presented to NCTCOG on Wednesday, July 16 in San Diego, California. This award recognizes the o utstanding GIS technology NCTCOG uses for their 9-1-1 systems their 44 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs).

NCTCOG has developed an extensive Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) system that provides comprehensive geospatial functionality by combining detailed GIS base maps with real-time emergency caller location for their 9-1-1 call takers. NCTCOG implemented several different software tools to reach their high level of 9-1-1 service. The software tools implemented include GeoLynx Spatial Router, GeoLynx Server Web DMS & GIS Change Requests, GeoLynx DMS Desktop, GeoLynx DMS Workflow Manager. In addition, GeoComm provided NCTCOG with NG9-1-1 GIS consulting services which included a technical workflow training session and a train the trainer session to provide a comprehensive understanding of the software tools and how to apply those tools to the new NG9-1-1 system.

"Congratulations to the NCTCOG team on receiving the Special Achievement in GIS award at this year's Esri UC! GeoComm is honored to partner with this great team as they work to offer unmatched NG9-1-1 GIS mapping capabilities for the 9-1-1 call takers across the region" John Bryant, GeoComm President and CEO.

NCTCOG had a goal of pursuing the latest 9-1-1 technological advancements and in 2013 became the first in the state to route live 9-1-1 calls through a National Emergency Number Association (NENA) i3 standard Emergency Call Routing Function (ECRF)/Location Validation Function (LVF). NCTCOG is currently implementing an i3 CPE web-based Enterprise Mapping solution that is capable of receiving 9-1-1 call location information originating from wireline, wireless, and Voice Over IP (VoIP) communication devices.
