 The National Law Enforcement Identity Theft SummitTM will take place in Myrtle Beach,
SC from October 28-30, 2009. This is the first event of its kind to take place and is geared to train law enforcement
personnel to tackle the fastest growing crime in America.
"Identity theft is a pandemic. More than one third of the world's population has been exposed," said Mark Priganc,
the founder of the summit and author of Identity Theft: The Personal Guide.
The class of criminals engaged in this crime has changed from small time street level thieves stealing mail and
credit cards to sophisticated hackers stealing thousands of social security numbers, and other vital
information at one time. Not a day goes by without at least one story in the news regarding an identity theft crime.
The summit will educate law enforcement officers from local and state levels to catch and prosecute those involved in it.
Speakers include experts from within law enforcement, industry experts, and providers of identity theft protection services.
"A core aspect of the training will be the community night training which will allow agencies to conduct training
within their own communities," said Priganc. "It is my hope: that not only will the attendees be protected,
but that they will spread awareness, education, and preparation throughout the community."
