The Essex County Dept. Of Public Safety consists of two county correctional facilities holding nearly 3000 county inmates and 700 state inmates. We have a Special Emergency Response Team and an Emergency Medical Service Unit available 24 hrs./ day.
All of our Officers are Police Academy trained and are PTC certified Correction Officers. Correction Officers are full law enforcement officers in this state under NJAC 2C:154-4.
