The Village of Higginsport is located in the Southwest corner of Brown County,
Ohio and sits on the Northern bank of the Ohio River. Higginsport is
approximately 44 miles from Cincinnati and sits on both sides of US Route 52
which goes through the heart of the village. Our village was found in 1816,
but was first called White Haven by Robert Higgins, an American Revolutionary
War veteran, who came to Ohio country in 1799 to claim his veteran's payment
of 1,000 acres of land in what was then known as the Virginia Military Lands.
Today's Higginsport has a part-time police department providing police
protection to the Village in conjunction with the Brown County
Sheriff's Office serving a community of approximately 291 people
according to the 2000 Census.
