Hello and welcome to our little corner of the World Wide Web. I am Chief Greg Cooper
and I hope you will take the time to look over our website and become more familiar
with the Village of Higginsport and its police department. The Higginsport Police
Department is currently a part-time police force with nine sworn officers serving
our community. As a part-time force we don't have the manpower or budget to work
with like some of the larger departments in the surrounding areas, but this does
not mean we will be any less professional.
It is my intention to create and maintain a high level of professional excellence
in our department and its personnel. This will be done through the use of a
selective hiring process coupled with a commitment to an ongoing training
program for those hired to work as our village police officers. However
this will only get us so far since a truly effective police department also
requires the support of the citizens it serves. It is a truism that we can't
be everywhere at once even in a village as small as ours, and this is especially
so for a part-time department such as ours.
I therefore invite all of our citizens to partner with their police department
by being our eyes and ears in the times and places we can't be there.
If there is a problem let us know about it. If there is a concern you don't think
is being addressed tell us about it. It is our job to protect and serve you the
public, but we still need information and feedback to give you the best
possible service. So please don't hesitate to contact us in person,
by phone, or e-mail. Due to the part-time nature of our department I would
ask that if you would like to talk with me face to face that you call
ahead and make an appointment so that a mutually agreeable time can be set
aside for that purpose in which I can give you my full attention without the
fear that I will be called out for other business. I look forward to making our
community safer and more secure with your help.
