The Celina Police Department consists of 16 sworn officers and six civilian dispatchers. Along with the Chief of Police, Asst. Chief, and three patrol Sergeants, there are 9 patrol officers, a Detective and an officer assigned to The Grand Lake Drug Task Force. There are four dispatchers assigned to duty shifts and two assigned to clerical & administrative duties.
This agency follows a department-wide community policing philosophy and is involved in several projects that promote open communication with the community. Thirteen of the 16 sworn officers are IPMBA certified for bicycle patrol. We also participate in a school resource officer program with Celina City Schools.
The City of Celina is a community of approximately 11,000 and sits on the shores of Grand Lake, a former reservoir for the Miami-Erie Canal system. Celina has twice been named "One of the Best Small Towns in America" by author Norman Crampton. In his 1995 edition of his book reviewing small towns Celina was ranked lowest in crime.
