Chief of Police Virgil L Green, SrThe Town of Boley Oklahoma founded in 1903 (Indian Territory) is located in Okfuskee County off HWY 62, in Eastern Oklahoma just 65 miles west of Oklahoma city. The Town of Boley is the States largest all African American Town. It is well known for it's annual Boley Rodeo held during the Memorial holiday weekend where some Thirty Thousand come from all over the United States to one of the Nations oldest African American rodeos.

The Boley police department was founded in 1904. In 1905, the department lost it's first officer in the line of duty. W R "Dick" Shaver was killed while trying to arrest a horse thief named Dick Simmons. Shaver also at the time was one the States only black deputy U.S. marshal.

Today, the Boley police department is under the leadership of Virgil L Green Sr. Chief of police. Chief Green, originally from Hobbs, New Mexico had previously served with the Oklahoma City Housing Authority uniformed Division for six years. Chief Green has been with the department for five years.

Chief Green is also a member of the following Law Enforcement Associations: Oklahoma Associations of Chiefs of police, National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), National Association of Blacks In Criminal Justice, and he serves as National chairman for the future America National police Crime Solution Commission, a newly created organization to employ basic research tools and expertise to eradicate crime in rural and urban America.

Chief Green's goal has been to change the total operation of the department so they may better serve the citizens of Boley. Our mission is to provide a safe environment for our citizens while working to improve the quality of life for the community of Boley, with the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
