The Wewoka Police Department was establish in 1866, with a uniformed force of 9 officers and 2
civilian employees, protects citizens and property from criminal activity, keeps the peace,
enforces laws, apprehends criminals and helps prepare cases for prosecution.
The department has a central police station and service approximately 3,562 citizens as of the 2000 census
and patrols approximately 4.8 square miles. In addition the Wewoka Police Department patrols the Wewoka
Lake which has approximately 10 miles of shoreline and 371 surface acres.
In addition to officers patrolling the city in cars and on foot, the Officers are also trained in
criminal investigation, crime scene investigations, collision investigation, tactics for search
warrant execution and many other advanced areas of law enforcement.
