Warrenton Police Department

About Us

The Warrenton Police Department is responsible for law enforcement services for the Oregon cities of Warrenton and Hammond as well as for Fort Clatsop State Park. The City of Warrenton has an approximate population of 5,000 while Hammond has approximately 1,200 residents. Both cities are located in the very Northwest corner of Oregon at the mouth of the Columbia River in Clatsop County. The Warrenton Police Department is made up of a chief, one sergeant, six patrol officers, five reserve officers, and a police clerk/Municipal Court clerk. The Warrenton area is noted for Fort Clatsop, the winter residence of the 1805-1806 Lewis and Clark expedition and Fort Stevens State Park. With approximately eighteen square miles of patrol area, Warrenton is the fourth largest city (geographically) in the state of Oregon. Logging, fishing (both commercial and sports), and tourism provide the economic base for this scenic coastal community.
