The Warrenton Police Department is responsible for law enforcement services for
the Oregon cities of Warrenton and Hammond as well as for Fort Clatsop State Park.
The City of Warrenton has an approximate population of 5,000 while Hammond has
approximately 1,200 residents. Both cities are located in the very Northwest
corner of Oregon at the mouth of the Columbia River in Clatsop County.
The Warrenton Police Department is made up of a chief, one sergeant, six patrol
officers, five reserve officers, and a police clerk/Municipal Court clerk.
The Warrenton area is noted for Fort Clatsop, the winter residence of the
1805-1806 Lewis and Clark expedition and Fort Stevens State Park.
With approximately eighteen square miles of patrol area, Warrenton is
the fourth largest city (geographically) in the state of Oregon. Logging,
fishing (both commercial and sports), and tourism provide the economic
base for this scenic coastal community.
