Providence County Sheriffs is a division of the Rhode Island Sheriffs Department. This county handles the transportation of prisoners, writ service and security for the courts and justices.
The Writ Service compliment services Providence, East Providence, North Providence, Cranston, Pawtucket, Central Falls, Cumberland, Woonsocket, Lincoln, Foster, Glocester, Johnston, Burriville, Scituate and North Scituate. The fee for in-state services is $45.00 per service, per defendant; per document. The cost for out-of-state services is $100. Fax services accepted only from Alaska and Hawaii. All emergency fax services must be pre-arranged with the supervisor of the Writ Department.
