The C.P.T.R.R. Police Department is responsible for: the protection of life, individual liberty and property; the preservation of peace; the prevention of crime and disorder; the detection and arrest of violators of the law; the enforcement of state laws and company rules within the departments's jurisdiction; and the provision of public service to the railroad community. The function of the department must be broadly interpreted to include many tasks other than the enforcement of laws.
