The Tomah VA Police are a small 12 officer Federal police agency located on a 172 acre neuro-psychiatric facility in Tomah, WI. The force composition is the Chief, Detective, 2 Sergeants and 8 full time patrol officers. There is also 1 intermittent patrol officer that works as needed. The department responds to incidents occurring on site, and searches for and retrieves missing patients from off site. One public highway bisects the facility and it is open to the public, to include a public golf course on the facility. Facilities at the facility, in addition to the medical, dental, and various outpatient clinics, include a large substance abuse treatment program, a PTSD program, 4 psychiatric wards, a large homeless veteran program, and a long term care facility.
