The Tomah VA Police are a small 14 officer Federal Police Agency with three non-sworn employees located on a
172 acre neuro-psychiatric facility in Tomah, WI. The force composition is the Chief, Operations Officer,
Training Officer, Lead Officer and 10 full time patrol officers. The department responds to incidents occurring
on site, and searches for and retrieves missing patients from off site. One public highway bisects the
facility and it is open to the public, to include a public golf course on the facility. Facilities at
the facility, in addition to the medical, dental, and various outpatient clinics, include a large substance
abuse treatment program (narcotics and alcohol), a PTSD program, 4 psychiatric wards, a large homeless
veteran program, and a long term care facility.
