The Scottsdale Police Department proudly serves the City of Scottsdale as a progressive and innovative law
enforcement agency, possessing strong values that emphasize ethical behavior, principled decision-making,
and a commitment to serving the community. The organization is proud to be nationally accredited by the
Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.
The Scottsdale Police Department was established in 1963 with a total of 47 full-time employees.
We have since grown to employ over 689 full-time employees and volunteers. The Department is responsible for
policing over 185 square miles and a population of over 230,000. The city is divided into 4 districts with a total
of 20 patrol beats. Scottsdale Police Department is comprised of 3 Bureaus: the Uniformed Services Bureau,
which includes uniformed patrol, the Special Operations Division, and the Emergency Preparedness Section;
The Personnel Development/Investigative Services Bureau, which includes detectives, the Narcotics Unit, Personnel,
Training, and Criminal Intelligence; and the Administrative Services Bureau, which includes the Crime Lab, Records,
Technology Services, Planning and Research, and Crime Analysis.
