It is the mission of the San Luis Police Department to remember the past and to prepare for the future. To serve and to protect while upholding the rights of all people. We are determined to provide the highest level of professionalism and courtesy while taking a positive approach to law enforcement, while providing a safe environment for the citizens of San Luis in which we live.

San Luis is a small agricultural/Artists community nestled in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range at an elevation of almost 8,000feet. There is a population of about 750. San Luis is the oldest established community in Colorado with the roots being Spanish settlers migrating north out of the New Mexico Territory. There are 4 restaurants, 1 Coffee House, 3 Convenience Stores, 3 gas stations, The Cultural Museum, 1 Grocery stores, 4 Art Galleries. There are also accommodations 1 Hotel, 1 Bed & Breakfast.

There is also the Stations of the Cross Shrine which is visited by many people through out the year.
