The Charter Township of Kalamazoo Police Department employes 35 sworn police officers, and 4 full-time dispatchers. Kalamazoo Township Police officers service and area of approximately 12 square miles and a population of approximately 22,000.
The department embraces a Community Policing strategy and has five officers assigned to the Community Policing Unit, which includes
D.A.R.E.
The department provides 24/7 services to the community.
The department heritage dates back to 1952 when TKPD was established by the Board of Trustees.
Our community is adjacent to the City of Kalamazoo and it's boundaries are to the North, East and West of the city limits.
The township has a mix of residential, business, and industry.
