January 9, 2006 after new councilmembers were sworn in by Mayor Scott Jones, the Mayor moved for a motion to alter the set agenda moving Chief Fisher's comments ahead of all business.

Chief Fisher announced to the village council and several local residence that Officer Rober Gaines, a newly appointed village Police Officer lost his wife in a car crash that killed her instantly on Friday, January 6, 2006 around 11:15am.

Chief Fisher stated what the funeral arrangements would be and that the family has request and has been granted a police detail from Ostrander Police, South Bloomfield Police (Ofc Gaines former employer) and Edison Police Department. Further the Chief stated that Scioto Township fire department has been invited but declined. However Fire Fighter and village resident Mike Knapp will be attending with the Police Officers on his own.

In other business the council approved the purchase of patches, minor cruiser maintenance and the allocation of ten-thousand dollars into the police budget to start 2006. The Mayor sworn in Police Officer/Detective Olen Martin leaving 5 open positions for the new department.

Chief excused himself and several members of the police department as they were attending the 8pm events at the Tidd Funeral Home in Hilliard, Ohio for Mrs. Gaines. The Chief was accompanied by former Mayor Jeff Vanbrimmer who assisted in the civilian interview panel that hired Robert for the police department.
