The Detective Division is the investigative arm of the Luzerne County District Attorney's Office. There are currently nine County Detectives within the Detective Division.
The County Detectives are assigned to investigate criminal activity which occurs within Luzerne County. Crimes investigated include homicide, sexual assault, domestic violence, homicide by motor vehicle - DUI related, white collar crime, and crimes against children. County Detectives also investigate other matters as assigned by the Luzerne County District Attorney.
The Luzerne County Detective Division was one of the first County Detective Divisions to have a Child Abuse Unit and Domestic Violence Unit in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The Luzerne County Detectives are Act 120 certified and have received training from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police, and other nationally accredited law enforcement agencies. The Detective Division routinely assists federal, state and local law enforcement agencies with criminal investigations.
Each Detective is on call seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.
