The City of Alton, Illinois is a small community with a population of 30,496 people.
The residents of the city come from diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds. The community comprises
greater Alton, and offers a wealth of educational, religious, cultural, architectural, recreational,
and economic opportunities.
The Alton Police Department is comprised of 80 sworn officers with 14 civilian personnel.

proactive, culturally diverse department that serves the community by protecting life and
property; by preventing crime; by enforcing Federal and State Laws and Local Ordinances;
