In April of 2008 Shannon Speck was appointed Police Chief after serving the department
as Deputy Chief. The MPD has four full time officers and several part time officers who help
during special events.
In May of 2008 Patrolman Doug Davis was promoted to Deputy Chief after four years of experience.
Patrolman Chris Hendrickson joined the MPD in the fall of 2007. Chris was a 911 operator prior
to joining the MPD and graduated from the South Dakota Police Academy in March of 2008.
Jeff Morris joined the MPD in April of 2008 and was a correctional officer prior to becoming
part of the patrol division.
Dispatch services are offered by the Hand County Sheriff's Office and the regional 911 center
at the Huron Police Department.
