The Airport Police Department (APD) is an independent FDLE certified Police
Department under the Airport Authority. The APD provides a wide variety of law
enforcement, security, and safety services for the traveling public and the
airport community. The primary responsibility is safety, terminal and airport
traffic control, and adherence to Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
regulations. The APD staff includes a Police Chief, Police Lieutenant, Police
Sergeants, Corporals, Officers and Civilian Traffic Control Specialists.
They are all highly trained and are dedicated to providing friendly customer
service.
The APD's jurisdiction encompases Airport boundaries in both Sarasota County, The City
of Sarasota, and Manatee County Florida. The APD works very close with these adjoining
jurisdictions in addition to the New College Police Department which is just outside
the Airports gates.
