The police department was formed in 1871. Through the years many changes have taken place.
In the past 5 years we have increased the number of officers from 14 to 18. We have updated our patrol cars
with new lightbars and control boxes from the old bubble gum light bars. In the past year we moved to a new
building, that has much more room than our upstairs attic offices we moved from.
The main goal of the police department is to provide a high level of professionalism and service to the
citizens of Mexia.
