Mission Statement

Mission Statement

It shall be the mission of the Oklahoma State Parks Division - Ranger Program, to enhance the quality of life of those in state parks, protect the assets of the Parks, preserve and protect the cultural and historical value of the park, assist guests and other employees with any issues, not just those thought to be law enforcement related. We shall also provide law enforcement backup to local or statewide agencies to whom we have Memorandum of Understandings with.
Further, it shall be our mission to afford all persons their constitutional rights, rights and privileges granted by statutes or agency rules, and those rights normally associated with "basic inalienable human rights". In addition, that respect that we show those we serve will be mirrored by our respect for our co-workers and those appointed to oversee us.

Core Values

The core values of the Oklahoma State Parks Division - Ranger Program is as follows:
Honor, Character, Absolute Honesty, Bravery, Procedural Justice, Transparency, Legitimacy, Ethics and Fellowship.

Motto

The motto of the Oklahoma State Parks Division - Ranger Program, is;
"Respect and Responsibility"
Responsibility is defined as not having to be told to do something. Doing something that is not your job is how you become responsible. Responsibility breeds Leadership.
Respect is defined as avoiding harming or interfering, while showing due regard for feelings, wishes, rights, or traditions of others, respecting the needs of all and respecting the direction of those appointed over us. This includes timely returning of phone calls, texts, or emails.

Ethic

Rangers will conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. When off-duty, a Ranger is still recognized as a member of the Rangers and, therefore, must continue to live up to this code.
Ethical behavior is defined as "doing the right thing, every time". The ethical treatment of a person includes, but is not limited to; Professional and friendly speech (obscene language is prohibited), not unnecessarily invading a person's personal space, not accepting bribes or gifts for doing one's duty, not showing favoritism in the performance of one's duties, not giving the impression that Law Enforcement Officers are above the law in any way. Ethical behavior is also recognizing and correcting / reporting unethical behavior in other Rangers.

Duty

It shall be the duty of every Oklahoma State Park Ranger to uphold the U.S. and State Constitution and the laws of the State of Oklahoma, in a fair and unbiased manner. Rangers shall safeguard lives and property, protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation and the peaceful against violence or disorder.
